What is TRON (TRX)?

What is Tron? Tron's mission is to build a truly decentralized internet and aims to be the largest blockchain-based operating system in the world, known as the TRON protocol. The TRON protocol will offer high scalability, high availability, and high throughput computing to serve decentralized applications via smart contracts. Ethereum EVM-based smart contracts will be compatible and deployable on the TRON network as such Solidity developers do not have to rewrite their applications. Why Tron? Since TRON protocol does not rely on proof of work or mining, instead governed by nodes located around the world, it is decentralized while providing high throughput for transactions on the blockchain. This is suitable for dapps that require high speed transactions especially games. There are a number of tokens already issued on the TRON network and the decentralized exchanges TRX.market has launched. On July 24th 2018, TRON acquired BitTorrent, one of the largest P2P file sharing protocol. As a result of the acquisition, BitTorrent Token (BTT) was launched as the cryptocurrency to power the economics on the BitTorrent network. The Token will be used to inceltivize file sharing and storage within the network.

These measurements describe observed behavior and do not establish future direction.

TRON Network Overview

TRON is a smart-contract blockchain whose native asset is TRX. The network uses delegated proof of stake: TRX holders can stake and vote for Super Representative candidates, while 27 active Super Representatives produce blocks. This design targets regular block production and on-chain governance, but it places particular importance on validator selection and voting concentration.

Bandwidth and Energy

TRON meters transaction byte size through Bandwidth and smart-contract computation through Energy. Accounts can obtain these resources by staking TRX or receiving delegated resources. When available resources are insufficient, TRX can be burned to cover the cost according to network parameters. Because those parameters may change through governance, current costs should be checked rather than treated as permanent.

Role of TRX

TRX is used for fees, staking, resource allocation, voting power, and activity across TRON applications. The supply is not fixed: block and voter rewards can add TRX while transaction-fee burning removes it. Daily net issuance therefore depends on both mechanisms.

Use Cases and Risks

TRON is widely used for token transfers and smart-contract applications, including stablecoin activity. Relevant risks include smart-contract failures, governance and validator concentration, changing resource costs, reliance on application operators, and the market volatility of TRX. High transaction counts do not by themselves establish decentralization, sustainable demand, or investment value.

YearBull Perspective

YearBull evaluates TRX using market behavior and locally stored historical snapshots. Rank, Bull Score, Risk, and Cycle do not assess governance quality or the safety of individual TRON applications.

Rank timeline (last 365 days)

Rank change (reference points).

Reading rule: smaller rank numbers are better.

  • 7d window (2026-09-08): #1416 → #1076 (up by 340).
  • 30d window (2026-08-16): #367 → #1076 (down by 709).

Liquidity read: deep markets usually produce smoother rank paths. If the line drifts, liquidity may be gradually shifting.

Cycle framing: sideways periods still reshuffle relative placement. If both are flat, the coin may be tracking its peer basket.

Risk angle: short bursts do not always translate into durable placement. If it moves only on certain days, it can be update cadence.

Exchange footprint: fragmentation can make rank more reactive. If rank can’t hold gains, it can be concentrated pressure.

YearBull Rank is a relative ranking on YearBull designed to compare coins on a common scale and time window. Lower values mean higher placement in the YearBull ordering.
