What is ZERA (ZERA)?

Source description

“What Is ZERA? ZERA is a zero-knowledge (ZK) privacy protocol on Solana that enables shielded balances, private transfers, and offline-capable peer-to-peer exchange for existing crypto assets (e.g., USDC, USDT, SOL + more). The project is developed by Zera Labs with the goal of providing cash-like privacy while remaining non-custodial and compatible with existing stablecoin rails. At the protocol level, users deposit supported assets directly into the protocol and receive “cryptographic notes.” These notes can be transferred privately without the need for an internet connection and later withdrawn back to the same underlying asset. The direct-deposit architecture creates an unified, asset-agnostic anonymity set with clean composability for wallets, relayers, and dApps - without wrapped assets or AMM routing How Does It Work? ZERA’s core privacy layer is built on well-studied primitives: - Commitments & Nullifiers: Values are committed using Pedersen commitments; unique nullifiers prevent double-spends while keeping linkability hidden. - Zero-Knowledge Proofs: Transactions are proven with succinct zk-SNARKs (e.g., Groth16) so validators verify correctness without learning senders, receivers, or amounts. - Unified Pool: All notes share a common anonymity set. Optional relayers can submit withdrawals for users, helping further break the link between their network activity and identity. The protocol is non-custodial; users retain control of their keys and notes. Because deposits/withdrawals map to the same underlying assets, accounting remains transparent at the reserve level while individual transfers stay private. What Is the ZERA Token Used For? ZERA is a value-accrual token tied to protocol activity.”

ZERA (ZERA) FAQ

How does ZERA’s direct-deposit model handle different crypto assets?

The project states that users deposit supported assets such as USDC, USDT, and SOL directly into the protocol and receive cryptographic notes representing those deposits. Notes can later be withdrawn into the same underlying asset. ZERA describes this asset-agnostic structure as avoiding wrapped assets and AMM routing while allowing different supported assets to share a unified anonymity set.

How do commitments, nullifiers, and zero-knowledge proofs support private transfers?

ZERA describes using Pedersen commitments to conceal transaction values and unique nullifiers to prevent the same note from being spent twice without exposing linkability. The project also states that succinct zk-SNARKs, including Groth16-style proofs, allow validators to verify transaction correctness without learning the sender, receiver, or transferred amount.

What role can relayers play in ZERA withdrawals?

According to the project, optional relayers can submit withdrawal transactions on a user’s behalf. This is intended to make it harder to connect a user’s network activity with the withdrawal address, adding separation between the person holding a private note and the account that interacts with the blockchain. Relayers are presented as optional rather than required for protocol use.

How does ZERA describe its offline-capable peer-to-peer transfers?

The project presents its cryptographic notes as transferable without an internet connection, supporting an offline-capable peer-to-peer exchange model. The underlying asset is not moved back onto the network until a later withdrawal. ZERA positions this feature as part of a cash-like payment experience for supported assets, while describing the protocol itself as non-custodial, with users retaining control of their keys and notes.

ZERA metric comparison

This comparison is a stored snapshot generated 2026-10-22 06:31 UTC from 292 daily observations available from 2025-12-30 through 2026-10-22. It is separate from the latest analytical cards above. Percentiles compare the snapshot value with that day's analytical universe; a higher percentile means a larger observed value, not necessarily a better investment characteristic.

YearBull Rank update

Latest available YearBull Rank for zera: #8533.

Rank timeline (last 365 days)

Rank change (daily snapshots).

Reading rule: rank #120 sits higher than rank #200.

  • 7d window (2026-10-20): #1219 → #8533 (down by 7314).
  • 30d window (2026-09-27): #1715 → #8533 (down by 6818).

Flow context: If the line only moves on high-volume days, liquidity is a key filter. bursty volume can create temporary re-ordering.

Where it trades: If rank deteriorates while the curve stays smooth, it can be cohort strength shifting. changes can follow how the coin is routed across markets.

Phase read: If both windows align, the direction is clearer. a stable phase often tightens the rank range.

Volatility posture: If the curve is step-like, it may be reacting to discrete inputs. big jumps can be data-driven, but also rotation-driven.

Practical note: cohort shifts can move rank even without coin-specific news.

YearBull Rank is a comparative ordering used on YearBull to place a coin versus others using a consistent set of inputs. Lower values mean higher placement in the YearBull ordering.
